Nature of Work:

This is an administration role and supervisory roles of employees and projects.

Initial responsibilities will include working with the Office manager and other staff, gain knowledge on the day-to-day operations of each Plant and the duties and responsibilities of each employee.

Work on projects, administrative tasks, office & billing protocol, public relations and employee management.

Reports to, and works under the Board of Trustees.

Oversees the operation of the plants to ensure proper procedures and standards are met.

Prepares and submits a proposed yearly operating budget, controls expenditures throughout the year, and makes recommendations to the board on revenues and expenditures.

Develops the Department's budget and implements specific construction projects to improve the efficiency of the treatment plant and collection system.

Enforces or ensures enforcement of the Department's rules and regulations and other policies and procedures.

Acts as the Department's representative to the public on a day-to-day basis and handles all non-routine customers or public concerns. Coordinates appropriate activities with State DEP, U.S. EPA and other state and federal agencies

Examples of some initial Duties and Responsibilities:

Office work to include but not limited to keeping employee file up to date, keeping the website up to date, process payments, process service orders, working with office manager as needed.

Filing annual reports such as the CCR report and PUC reports for water.

Oversee any contractors, interdepartmental employees and other employees working in and around the plants.

Find cost effective ways to minimize expense, purchase needed materials and supplies, prepare budgets and suggest capital needs.

Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and practices essential to the maintenance and repair of sanitary sewers and treatment plants.

Thorough knowledge of the processes and equipment involved in wastewater treatment, including the basic chemical, bacteriological and biological processes. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including budgetary and complex reporting ability.

Requirements of Work:

Typical work week is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30PM. There will be times when the manager is needed outside these hours. Examples include board meetings, emergency repairs. This position is a salaried position.

Physical ability to work out in the field, i.e. lifting 40lb, working with hand tools.

Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations concerning the treatment of water and wastewater systems.

Training and Experience Required:

Knowledge and an understanding of the computer programs we use such as Microsoft suite of programs, CUSI billing software, Zenner software for meters. Must possess valid Class C motor vehicle operator's license. Must pass a routine physical, drug / alcohol tests.

Water / Wastewater licenses are not required at hire but within one year of service the ability to achieve a grade one license in water and sewer.

Probationary Period:

There will be a mandatory probationary period of six months from the date of hire.

Benefits:

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
