WWTP Operator - Brunswick Groundwater Extraction & Treatment System

Under general direction of the Project Manager, the Grade 2 ME licensed WWTP operator is to provide operations and maintenance support for the Former Naval air Station Brunswick groundwater extraction and treatment system (GWETS). This position is intended to provide temporary backup support to the primary lead operator over a limited timeframe while the primary lead operator takes a scheduled brake. A limited duration orientation will be provided by the GWETS Lead Operator prior to temporary assignment of duties.

The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

The primary goal of the Lead Operator is to operate and maintain the GWETS in a highly reliable manner at the highest possible and specified operating levels with minimal downtime. Under normal operating conditions, the system is expected to operate at a minimum of 95% runtime, with the exception of downtime associated with scheduled maintenance, carbon change-outs and major equipment failure which is not included in this runtime.

The GWETS shall be operated by State of Maine Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant operator and the operator shall have the ability to respond to a general trouble call within 4 hours. Response may require onsite visit, assessment, repairs, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) shutdown or other action that can be accomplished remotely.
The Contractor shall perform all day-to-day O&M for the GWETS in order to maintain the required performance in accordance with the O&M Manual and other requirements.

The activities associated with O&M include, but are not limited to: equipment inspections, equipment maintenance, maintaining spare parts, troubleshooting and system repair, reporting, data collection and management, and routine communication and reporting.

Must have at least 2 years of applicable experience in wastewater treatment.

State of Maine Grade II Wastewater Operator Certificate certification.
Must have the flexibility to be involved in a scheduled on-call rotation and be able to effectively respond to emergency conditions on evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
