Class Description:

Statistically, people remember: 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, 50% of what they see and hear, 70% of what they say and write, and 90% of what they do.

This 4-session course is designed as roundtable discussions, each session looks at topics pertinent to the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) Need-To-Know Criteria.  Participants learn from their peers, as well as MRWA instructors, while engaging operators to explore essential job tasks and supporting knowledge through hands-on practice and instruction. The course examines the exam content outline at the appropriate job task complexity level through instructor-led discussions, practice exams, and activities. 

All registered attendees will have access to the MRWA’s On-Demand VSWS Water Operator Certification Prep Course to complete before the first roundtable discussion (15 hours TCH).


This is a four session course!

Sessions are Monday March 27th, Tuesday March 28th, Monday April 3rd, and Tuesday April 4th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Speakers:

Matt Demers - Director of Contract Utility Services

Matthew Demers has over 20 years of experience in treatment, maintenance, operations, construction, and management of water and wastewater utilities. He currently holds his Grade 4 Water Treatment and Distribution licenses. When not working, Matt enjoys time with his family, teaching martial arts, and is the Chief of the Milo Fire Department.  Matt is also the staff contact for the Maine WARN.

Shaun Yeatts – Director of Operations

Shaun oversees MRWA’s Federal Water Circuit Rider, Wastewater Circuit Rider, Source Water Protection, EPA, and State Water Quality Specialist Programs. He studied Political Science at the University of Vermont, holds Class 4 Water Distribution and Water Treatment licenses, and attained Utility Management Certification through the National Rural Water Association. Prior to moving to Maine, he was Superintendent of a municipal water system in Vermont. In Maine, his primary focus was non-revenue water loss, and he has conducted leak detection across many municipal water systems throughout the state.
