Class Description:

This class will dive into the world of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and help attendees better understand the benefit of having a robust variety of SOPs. During this class the instructors will discuss why having accurate SOP’s are important, what the best SOP’s contain and leave out, and how to write useful standard operating procedures. The attendees will then be lead through an exercise to create, critique, and revise SOP’s for their respective utilities. This class is offered at no cost through a MRWA program funding by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Speakers:

Kirsten Hebert, Executive Director, Maine Rural Water Association

Kirsten is the Executive Director of Maine Rural Water. She is a registered professional lobbyist and enjoys shaping environmental policy issues. Kirsten spends many hours assisting Boards of Trustees understand their roles and responsibilities, answering Freedom of Access questions, as well as, personnel inquiries.

Bradley Sawyer, Deputy Director, Maine Rural Water Association

Bradley focuses on lobbying, communications, board training, and special projects. He holds a BS from the University of Oregon in political science and has worked in the political sphere for roughly a decade. As the Assistant Secretary of the Senate in the 128th Legislature and the Business Manager for the Maine Bicentennial Commission Brad has effectively worked with members of both parties to accomplish their goals and improve the lives of Mainers.
