Class Description:

This course provides water and wastewater professionals with a focused overview of PFAS and other emerging contaminants, including their sources, behavior, history and the regulatory landscape. Participants will explore treatment challenges and how others navigate strategies for removal, monitoring and mitigation. This session emphasizes real-world case studies of the environmental impact of these contaminants and provides information to support our water/wastewater professionals in making informed decisions on how best to protect public health & the environment from contamination of emerging concerns.

Learning Objectives:

  1. A comprehensive grasp of PFAS and Emerging Contaminants.
  2. How PFAS can persist in the environment.
  3. Identify sources of these emerging pollutants.
  4. How contamination affects the environment and human health.
  5. The different removal rates for current treatment technologies.
  6. Technologies that are being proposed across the US to combat PFAS & EC.

Class Fee: FREE

State Agency Approval: (Credits Pending)
Maine DEP: 4.0 TCHs for Wastewater Operators

Aaron Gaylord

Aaron Gaylord is the Wastewater Circuit Rider for Maine Rural Water Association. Having served the communities of New Hampshire for 10 years; he has assisted several wastewater operators in gaining their certifications. Night or day, snow or rain Aaron is ready to share his knowledge, troubleshoot process problems and help whenever he can.
