Superintendent
Madawaska Water District
Professional Bio
Steve Bechard is the Superintendent of the Madawaska Water District in Aroostook County. A native of the St. John Valley, he has lived in Madawaska with his wife for 33 years. Steve has worked at the MWD since 1996 and says one of his favorite parts of our industry is the evolving technology, both in the field and front office. He was hired as Superintendent at the beginning of 2021 and has already taken strides to increase resiliency and continue providing high quality water to his community for personal and industrial uses along with reliable fire protection.
Steve is looking to give back to MRWA after experiencing wonderful technical assistance from staff over the years. He cites the speed and personal nature of that support as one of his favorite things about Rural Water and is excited to serve as Northern Maine’s voice on the board. When he isn’t working you can find Steve enjoying the great outdoors of Aroostook County by hunting, fishing, gardening or riding the beautiful trails of the St. John Valley on ATV or snowmobile
