“Real World” Asset Management
This 1.5-hour session will provide an example of “Real World” applications of Asset Management for sanitary sewer systems but can also apply to public water systems. We will explain how the Oakland Environmental Services Department has approached the start of Asset Management of their sewer system in order to develop short- and long-term goals and prioritize any necessary improvements. OESD is in the 6th year of a self-directed multi-year assessment and evaluation. The course will include a start to finish broadcast of how the Department takes the field data acquired and incorporates it into the Global Information System (GIS) mapping system. This begins with initial field data measurements and photos, moving into CCTV inspection and how it is used to supplement the GIS mapping, tracking of Inflow and Infiltration potential issues from the inspection, locating and assigning work orders of immediate system issues, and correlating the data from the CCTV inspection to the numbering scheme in the GIS map. We will also discuss the future plans for the data acquisition and mapping, as well as a video presentation by the Waterville Sewerage District on their use of the I-Rat equipment to provide rapid initial data within their system to determine the priority for future inspection and repair of pipe segments within their system.
