Mike has spent over thirty years in water treatment and distribution, starting his career at the Portland Water District. Mike worked on hydrants, services, mains, equipment, and treatment facilities, pumping stations, as well as having reporting responsibilities. Mike was involved in disinfection, pH adjustment, corrosion control, radon removal, re-chlorination, pump maintenance, tank cleaning and maintenance, distribution system flushing, leak detection, line locating, and as Chief Operator, started up a 60 mgd Ozone treatment plant.

In addition, Mike also spent a few years operating an ultra pure treatment plant utilizing reverse osmosis and deionization supplying a semiconductor fabrication facility.

Mike joined Maine Rural Water Association as a Circuit Rider in 1998. Mike provides technical assistance to small, medium, and large water systems throughout Maine. He has been involved with solving rule violations, treatment issues, and leak detection, line locating, training, and helping to solve operational problems. Mike has a Class IV water system operator license and has many hours of training in treatment and operations for water systems. As a Circuit Rider, he works with Rural Development, and can help you with planning, financial, and managerial issues, as well as treatment and distribution concerns.
