Janet Abrahamson
Wastewater Technician

Janet began her career as Maine Rural Water Association’s Wastewater Technician in May 2002. Janet has over 20 years of experience in the wastewater field. She holds a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Lowell, in Lowell Massachusetts and a Grade V Biological Operator's Certificate.

Janet started her career in the environmental field working as a Chemist and Pretreatment Coordinator for the Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District in Waterville, Maine in February of 1985. Her expertise is in laboratory, safety, process control and pretreatment. In 1995 she received a Certificate of Achievement Award from the DEP for her efforts in pretreatment and the laboratory.

She has also received the following awards:

  • 2002 KSTD Service Award for 17 years of loyal service to the Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District
  • 2004 Lee Agger Award for excellence in Environmental training
  • 2004 Roger Gagne Award for long-term service and commitment to the Maine Waste Water Control Association
  • 2004 NEWEA Alfred Peloquin Award for significant contributions to the wastewater field
